Salt Dough Ornaments

The easiest 2 ingredient salt dough ornaments!
Prep Time 1 hour
Cook Time 2 hours
Servings: 24 ornaments

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour with extra needed for rolling out the dough
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 cup water
  • string, ribbon or ornament hooks

Equipment

  • any cookie cutter shapes
  • Rolling Pin
  • toothpick

Method

  1. Mix together the salt and flour in a large bowl.
  2. Add the water. Knead with your hands until the mixture becomes a dough-like-texture.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out your dough with a rolling pin and use cookie cutters to cut out shapes.
  4. Use a toothpick or something similar to make a small hole near the top of your dough shapes so that when they are dry, you can insert an ornament hook/string/ribbon.
  5. Place the shapes on baking trays.
  6. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F and bake for 2 hours. If the ornaments still feel soft, bake for a bit longer until hard (but not brown in color).
  7. Once dry (and cooled), decorate with any craft supplies you'd like!
