Do you ever just crave comfort food? A dish that not only fills you up but warms you up, too? I love dishes like that and all too often, I find that they take a whole afternoon to make! Well, enter from stage left this cozy & hearty salisbury steak that is comforting, yummy AND takes only 30 minutes from start to finish. That’s what I call a week-night win (especially on the days when May is behaving a little too cold for my liking).
This salisbury steak pairs beautifully with vegetables and a side of mashed potatoes. The delicious gravy from this dish is just begging for a creamy side to pair with it, in my opinion. Save this for a chillier May night and you will not be disappointed. Enjoy!
Simple Salisbury Steak
Ingredients
- 1 10.5 oz can condensed French onion soup
- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp pepper
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp mustard powder
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together 1/3 of the can of condensed French onion soup (set the remainder aside for now) with the ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, salt and pepper. Form into 6 patties.
- In another bowl, whisk together the remaining 2/3 can of condensed French onion soup with the 1 tbsp of flour until smooth. Then add in the ketchup, water, Worcestershire sauce and mustard powder and stir to combine. Set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium high heat, brown the patties on both sides (about 2-3 minutes per side). Remove the patties from the pan and discard any grease, then put them back in the pan and turn heat to low.
- Once patties are back in the pan, pour the ketchup/Worcestershire sauce mixture over the patties, cover and cook on low for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
