Christmas is a magical time with little ones, isn’t it? Their joy over every little thing—the Christmas lights, the hot chocolate, the treats and the decorations—it’s just infectious.
As a mom, I want my children to not only enjoy the Christmas season by having fun and making memories together, but I want this season to be meaningful for them. I long for them to know the significance of Jesus Christ—the Word becoming flesh and making His dwelling among us, and why we really celebrate this season.
That feels like a lot of hopes for one Christmas season, and I am all about resources to help us in our parenting—so, enter from stage left, the Advent Cards of my dreams.
That might sound a little extravagant but I looked far and wide for cards such as these and couldn’t find any. I wanted Advent Cards that used Scripture to tell the Christmas story in a simple way for my little ones to grasp. I wanted an illustration to go with the Scripture so my kids could picture what was happening in the passage. And I wanted daily moments of Christmas cheer to help us make memories and teach my kids to love others. When I couldn’t find such cards, I made them myself, along with the help of my very talented friend, Tasha (from the House on 10th), who created the illustrations for the cards.
Similar to last year, these Advent Cards are paired with a “Christmas Cheer” calendar for December, giving you a heads up about all of the Christmas activities beforehand so you know how to plan for them.
The cards themselves come in 3 sizes—flash card size is the largest version, pocket calendar size for your Advent pocket Cals, and Advent House size for those tiny little doors on an advent house. You can download any and all versions of the cards to use this season.
The best part about this resource is that it’s free. That’s right, mama, FREE, when you sign up for the More for Motherhood email newsletter. More for Motherhood is a community that provides Christ centered resources to help you on your parenting journey. I believe that if we’re going to thrive in the survival years, we need all the help we can get, so I’m excited to invite you into this community so that you can receive more encouragement and resources on your journey.
To use the Advent Cards, download the instructions and December calendar below. Then, choose the size of advent cards you’d like and download those too.
I am so excited to get these into your hands and have your family start to use them. Follow along with us on Instagram to see December prompts and ideas for the calendar and tag us in any of the activities you do so we can see your Christmas fun!
If you enjoy these Advent cards, please share them with your mom-friends! We’d love for more families to be blessed by them. And be on the lookout for weekly newsletters coming your way with additional Christmas Cheer ideas + supply lists to make this Advent season that much easier for you!
Let’s ring in this December with more meaning and merry together, mama!
