Praying the Scriptures for Your Children Resource

I recently finished the book Praying the Scriptures for your Children by Jodie Berndt and to say that it has been impactful would be an understatement. I regularly pray for my kids, but before reading this book my prayers were of the more generic nature. “Lord bless them, keep them healthy, help them to come to know you…” etc etc. And that’s not a bad prayer, don’t get me wrong. But Jodie encourages a more specific approach and encourages mamas to try praying Scripture over their children, too.

Each chapter of her book is a different theme to pray for in your child’s life–everything from salvation, to a love of the Word, character formation, sibling rivalries and more. She also includes prayer principles to hang on to as you pray for your kids. I knew that when I was done with the book, I would want to pick my favorite verse from each chapter and compile them together so that I could pray more regularly and effectively for my kids.

So, here it is! A packet of 20 prayer principles and Bible verses to pray over your children based upon Jodie Berndt’s Praying the Scriptures for your Children. On Instagram, I have been sharing many of these principles and verses, but I’ve included 4 bonus themes in this packet that I didn’t get a chance to share on insta. I encourage you to print this and keep it near your Bible or quiet time materials. Then when you sit down to spend time with Jesus, focus on one of the themes each day and take just a couple of minutes to pray. Insert your child or children’s names into the blank of the verses, and wait to see how the Lord grows you (and your little ones) through your prayers.
