I can feel it, you guys. Spring is right around the corner. I’ll be honest, winter has felt lonnng to me this year, especially in a pandemic. While I have brainstormed many a way to keep myself and the kids entertained, I am even more so looking forward to beginning the new March Activity Calendar!
One of my favorite things about these daily activities with our kids, is that there is usually a teachable moment for them. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes it’s nice to do fun things simply for the fun of doing them–but if I can weave a way to talk about our faith, or family, or teach them a new skill? It brings on a whole new joy to the activity for me.
That’s one of the reasons I’m so excited for the March calendar! March is the month where we prepare our hearts for Easter and Jesus’ death and resurrection. As a Christian, I want to go big for Easter. I’d love for my kids to have fond and meaningful memories of celebrating Easter that get them excited about the resurrection. My hope is that it feels a little bit like Christmas for them. So for this month’s calendar, I included the first 2 days of April as well, so that we could really live into the season of Easter together with our littles.
Not only does the celebration of Easter fall in this month, but so does St. Patrick’s Day, the first day of Spring AND March Madness. I mean, y’all, what a month!
So I kept the first 2 weeks chill and low key, and then we go all out for St. Patrick’s Day, Spring and Easter.
Not only that, but I’m really excited for the date nights this month–some of which are a bit more thoughtful than usual. Trying out a “family meeting”, a Spring reflection prayer with appetizers… I’m excited to hopefully get you and your spouse trying some new things this month, and I hope it will bless y’all as you try them!
